Former nominated MLA Della Godfrey died at 62

 Former nominated MLA of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Della Godfrey passed away here on Tuesday morning. She was 62 years. ella Godfrey suffered a cardiac stroke six days ago and was undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospital in Hyderguda. She breathed her last at 6.30 am, her family members said. Della Godfrey was nominated to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly twice and continued as MLA till 2004.


She was a very popular person, who strove for the welfare not only the Anglo-Indian community, but all. Her mother Marjorie Godfrey was also a nominated member of AP Legislative Assembly and also the Indian Parliament. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, she studied in Rosary convent and graduated from OU College for Women in Koti. She worked as a manager in KLM. A quintessential Hyderabadi, Della Godfrey is known for her service to people.


Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday expressed deep condolences at the passing of former nominated MLA Della Godfrey. Recalling her services to the Anglo-Indian community as the nominated MLA, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the Godfrey’s family.


The mass will be held at st. Joseph’s Cathedral in Gunfoundry at 3.30 pm on Wednesday. Her funeral will be at Catholic Cemetery, Narayanguda later.
