KB Asifabad SP’s speeding car mows down woman

MANCHERIAL : A 55-year-old woman, who was waiting at a bus stand at Rapelliwada of Kumrambheem Asifabad district, died on the spot when a speeding car mowed her down on Saturday.


District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunpreeth Singh was travelling in the car. Much to the surprise of locals, the SP instead of taking the woman to a hospital left the place in another vehicle, hurriedly.


The woman was identified as Gajjala Sarada of Kothapalli village. She was waiting near Rapelliwada bus stand to catch a bus to Adilabad, when the incident happened.


According to locals, the incident occurred when the SP’s  car, going from Asifabad to Mancherial, tried to overtake a vehicle. But the driver to avoid a possible collision with a truck coming from opposite direction turned towards bus stand and hit the old woman standing under a tree.


After hitting her, the vehicle rammed into bushes and came to a halt. A case had been filed against driver M Rajalingu. The family members of the woman staged a rasta roko demanding ex gratia
